Community Service
We allow community service 7 days a week from 8-5pm. We do take lunch from 11:30-12:30 daily, so you must leave the property at that time. You can get 8 hours of community service a day if you start promptly at 8am, and if we have work for you (we make no assurances about the number of hours you can earn in any given day). Be sure to bring all required paperwork with you, and wear work-appropriate clothing that you do not mind getting dirty.
Every Community Service worker is required to read and sign a liability waiver, which you can download below. C.S. workers under the age of 18 are advised to print the waiver so that a parent or legal guardian can sign it, and bring it on their first day. A C.S. worker can not work without a properly signed waiver.
If you have not done community service at Lone Star Sanctuary for Animals before, then you will be required to show up on your first day at 8:00 sharp. You will not be admitted late. (This is because we must give you a quick training orientation, which we are unable to do once we begin with our daily work routine). We strongly advise you check the links below for our rules and waiver.
Space and work for Community Service is limited, and offered on an as-needed basis. You are advised to show up a few minutes early.
NOTICE: Any Community Service worker under the age of 18 will need to have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian before they can undergo orientation or earn any hours.
NOTICE: Situations arise on occasion when we are unable to admit any, or must ask presently-working Community Service workers to vacate the property. Instruction, or invitation to attend an orientation for C.S. hours does not supersede this.
NOTICE: We reserve the right to ask any Community Service worker to leave the property for any reason, including (but not limited to) inappropriate behavior, inappropriate attire, lack of work, or bad attitude. If a C.S. worker acts offensively, or appears to be inebriated in any way while on the property, they may be asked to leave permanently.
NOTICE: All C.S. workers must have their own transportation. Drop-offs and pick-ups are not permitted.
NOTICE: Community Service workers may never ask if they may make a donation in lieu of working hours. Doing so may be seen as a breech of probation in some cases. Don't do it.
Please remember, community service hours and volunteer hours are not the same thing.
